Bacon at the Movies: VIN'S A DUMMY; THE PACIFIER Comedy CERT: PG.

Byline: Richard Bacon

WOW. Just wow. Does this film really exisit? Maybe I only saw it in some sweat-soaked anxiety dream that we film critics suffer from.

Surely only in some crackpot nightmare would you find this: Vin Diesel (below) as elite Navy Seal fails to save the life of top government scientist, then ends up babysitting the dead fella's four kids and baby. No way. That couldn't happen. But there it is in my diary, I did see it. Erm, right, what to say? Well, just why? Why did it get made? Why did someone somewhere agree to put a load of money into it? And, Vin, why don't you think about a career in IT?

There's a real sadness about Vin Diesel's career. He was absolutely superb in Boiler Room.

But since then his CV has done exactly what the diapers he has to change in this film have done. Gathered c**p.

He clearly hoped this would be his Kindergarden Cop but it has none of that movie's charm.

And I thought pacifiers were to STOP crying.
