Bachman's Announces Plans for New Floral, Gift and Garden Center in Fridley

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Bachman's announces plans to open a new floral, gift and garden center in the northern metro suburb of Fridley in the summer of 1998. This will be Bachman's seventh major location; the other six floral, gift and garden centers are located in Minneapolis, Maplewood, Apple Valley, Plymouth, Eden Prairie and Rochester.

The new Bachman's Floral, Gift and Garden Center will be located at 8200 University Ave. N.E., two blocks south of the Northtown shopping area. The store will serve the communities of Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Coon Rapids and Anoka.

The new 93,000-square-foot store will be Bachman's second largest store, following the headquarters site in Minneapolis at 6010 Lyndale Ave. So. The Fridley store will include 33,000-square-feet of indoor retail space, and 60,000-square of outdoor retail space. The expanded outdoor sales area will be used for garden products including annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs.

The Fridley store will feature a 3,200-square-foot atrium/greenhouse with a conservatory-like entry showcasing an array of green and blooming plants. A promenade walkway will lead shoppers through a variety of exciting retail areas.

Like Bachman's other floral, gift and garden centers, the store will offer a complete selection of fresh and permanent flowers, live and permanent green and blooming plants, gifts, decorative accessories, casual furniture, and garden and landscaping supplies. An information counter will be staffed by a plant and garden specialist who will answer questions and provide informational material. Resource directories will be available for in-store use.

The collectibles area will feature Department 56 Lit Villages, Swarovski Crystal and other popular collectible lines.

"We look forward to offering Bachman's quality and selection to our north metro customers in a more convenient and accessible location," said Todd Bachman, Bachman's chief executive officer. "The design and merchandise selection of our new Fridley store will be the perfect match for the growing northern suburban community."

The Fridley store is designed by Cluts, O'Brien, Strother Architects and will be built by Kraus Anderson Construction.

Bachman's currently has 21 retail floral stores in the Twin Cities, St. Cloud and Rochester, including six floral and garden centers. Bachman's also operates indoor and outdoor landscaping divisions, a nursery wholesale division, 7 acres of greenhouses and a 513-acre growing range near Lakeville, Minnesota, which produces many of the plants, flowers and landscaping products sold through Bachman's locations.
