Baccarat mid-priced stems, gifts.

NEW YORK--Baccarat, an upscale crystal supplier, has introduced a moderately priced stemware and accessory line in addition to an extensive gift collection.

The firm is offering three styles in its new Constellation collection of stemware, giftware and decorative accessories. The grouping features three transitional designs meant to be combined and interchanged.

"Constellation is an exciting addition for Baccarat and its retailers," said Howard Hyde, vice president of sales and marketing for the firm. "It allows us to expand out appeal to brides as well as other consumers who are conscious of design and quality, but who want home furnishings which are fun, functional and can fit into the reality of today's living."

The three patterns include Vega, with a faceted stem treatment; Lalande, with a spiral effect on its stem and Lyra, which has a ribbed column in a tall design.

A suite of six stems-water, white wine, red wine, champagne flute and port-plus a decanter are standards for each pattern.

What's most impressive about the line, is its price. All stems retail at $75 each, decanters for $450.

In Vega, the gift range includes a shallow coupe bowl for $325, a small, deep coupe at $300 and two vase options for $250 and $300. Two vases are offered in the Lalande pattern, retailing for $300 and $350.

Baccarat has also strengthened its giftware and accessories line for Christmas.

The highlight of the holiday offerings is a new angel figurine called Angel with Cello, which retails for $185. The figurine is gift packaged in Baccarat's signature red presentation box.

Two new Cherubs have also joined Baccarat's lineup: Cherub Blowing Kisses and Thinking of You. Both will retail for $135. Baccarat's annual Christmas ornament takes the shape of a cherub in flight. Engraved with Noel '95, the ornament retails for $65.

The three kings--Gaspar, Melchoir and Balthazar--have joined Baccarat's Nativity collection. Each will retail for $265.
