Baby you can drive my car.

BILLY Jack quit a well-paid job to launch his dream business in north east Wales - hiring out Ferraris.

He gave up his job of 19 years as operations director of British Polythene Industries, Flint, to get behind the wheel of one of the famous cars - and to give other people the chance to do likewise.

His independent business, Northern Ferrari Hire, based in Deeside Lane, Sealand, near Chester, gives people in Wales, the north of England and the Midlands the chance to drive one of the famous cars.

"It was quite a big step for me. I enjoyed the job with BPI and was doing well but I had always wanted to have my own business," he said.

"But the time never seemed right - or the product wasn't right - so it didn't happen. But then I reached the age of 38 and thought 'It's now or never'."

"Although it's early days, enquiries and sales so far have been encouraging and I would like to think it will prove to be viable."

Mr Jack admitted he is serving a small but select market and that the hire of one of the Ferraris does not come cheap - a customer can typically expect to pay pounds 625 for an eight-hour mid-week drive.

"Our current flagship car is the Ferrari 360 Spider, but we also have access to an extensive range of other supercars," he said.

"It is a niche market but there is a huge expense to owning and running one of these cars so this gives people the option of having a short-term ownership. For many, it is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to drive one of these cars.

"Driving one of these pounds 125,000 supercars is a glorious experience - it's everything about the car from the look to the noise it makes, the power and the handling."
