TRIBUTES have flooded in for an "endearing" rock musician who was due to become a dad after he was killed in a horror crash with a bus.
Nathan Thomas Gunn, 30, died when his Vauxhall Astra was involved in a collision with a Stagecoach bus on Friday.
His shattered family described his death as "an overwhelming tragedy", adding: "Nathan was due to be a first-time father in August and groomsman to two brothers.
"His will be an absence keenly felt this year and every year that follows.
"Baby Gunn will know through stories and photos the legend that was their daddy."
Making a plea for privacy to give them time to grieve, they added: "He had a gift of bringing laughter to any situation, the most endearing and gentlest of clowns, and demonstrated only kindness to everyone he encountered."
The tragedy happened at about 6.30pm on the A93 Ballater to Braemar road at Bridge of Gairn. Nathan, originally from Thurso in Caithness, was declared dead at the scene.
He was well-known in the music scene as bass guitarist for Aberdeen band Estrella with his brothers Paul and Luke, and friend Leo McPherson.
He had also been excited about becoming a dad with girlfriend Keren Yule, posting a few weeks ago on Facebook: "The first scan of our little one!
"A wee Ninja Turtle in the making and currently the size of a nice juicy lime... Exciting times!" But yesterday tributes online mourned Nathan's passing. He worked at the Boat Inn in Aboyne. Family friend Naomi Smith said: "I hope you're having a rocking time up there and showing everyone up with your pure talent."
Gordon Lockerbie added: "Rest in peace, Nathan. So desperately sad you're not going to be around any more. I can't believe I won't see you again. Smashing guy, kind, witty."
Julie Smith added: "Can't believe this. You could not have met a more genuine guy - so full of life. Loved this man to the Moon and back, as many of us did."
Tracey Forbes described Nathan as "one of the kindest, sweetest, gentlest men I ever had the privilege to know and to work with".
Police have appealed for anyone with information on the crash to come forward.
