Babar for strengthening democratic institutions.

RAWALPINDI, December 22, 2009 (Balochistan Times ): Minister for Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Babar Awan said on Tuesday that the government is committed to strengthening institutions. He said that confrontation would not be allowed among institutions of law, justice and parliament. The countries which have strong institutions can never collapse, he made these remarks while addressing an oath taking ceremony of newly elected crime and courts reporter association, Rawalpindi held here. The minister said that case against Baloch leaders including Barhamdagh Bugti, Akhtar Mengal, Haqyar Marri and others have been withdrawn. He said that four units of Frontier Constabulary (FC) are being trained after pulling armed troops out of Kohlu, adding, troops would be withdrawn from Sui after completion of FC training. Babar Awan said that the Parliament is supreme body and there is a rule of law and constitution in the country. He said that every house was bombed in the United Kingdom (UK) in World War II but the country remained safe owing to its strong institutions. The history teaches a lesson that a country having strong institutions can never collapsed, he added. He said the government has set an example by withdrawing old cases and not registering new cases against political opponents. Babar Awan said that list of 9,092 missing persons was prepared and now the government making all out efforts to trace them while all the political cases have been withdrawn in Balochistan province and now the people there are being given employment. He informed that 6000 applications have been received against 5,000 jobs in addition to 1000 jobs for women in Balochistan. The Minister further informed that about 13,809 new jobs have also been created in the province. He assured that no law will be made to curb media and expression and speech in the tenure of PPP government. Babar Awan said all the parliamentarians have been given funds as given to PPP parliamentarians. We faced five Martial Laws and we are not fear of accountability and ready to face it he added. Earlier, the Minister administered oath to the newly elected members of Crime and Courts Reporters Association, including its president, Shahid Malik, Senior Vice President, Dr. Zahid Awan, Vice President, Khurram Shehzad, General Secretary, Syed Shaharyar, Joint Secretary, Mehboob Sabir, Secretary Information, Mumtaz Khan, Office Secretary, Ahmed Bhatti, and Malik Imran. Patron-in-Chief of the Association, Aziz Alvi, Chairman, Murad Shad Khattak, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha of Anjuman-e-Tajraan, Neved Kanwal, Allama Abdul Jalil Naqvi, Allama Haider Alvi of Sunni Tehrik, National Press Club Representative, Afzal Butt, General Secretary, Photo-Journalist Association, Khurram Butt, Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Malik Pakar Maqsood, SPs Rana Shahid, Ishtiaq Shah, PPPs Tehsil President, Tauqeer Abbasi, Asad Abbassi Advocate besides senior officials of Police, lawyers fraternity, traders were also present.
