Babak urges Int. donor agencies to provide scholarships for journalists.

PESHAWAR, June 30, 2011 (Balochistan Times): Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Hussain Babak has asked the donor agencies to provide more scholarships and training opportunities to our journalists like being given to teachers and security officials. This he said while talking to the country Director of GTZ Dr. Jole who called on him at his office in Peshawar on Wednesday. In reply to the GTZ Country Directors question that the people of Pakistan were sitting back and not actively participating in the reforms process, the minister said the level of awareness among the people was very low due to which they could not dare to come forward and do their bit in changing the society. For creating awareness and confidence among the masses, the media-men needed to be trained and transformed in the first place. He revealed that he had strongly also advocated to the US authorities during his visit to America that more and more opportunities should be given to our journalists as they were the people who shaped perception of the people. The GTZ Country Director Dr. Jole, on this occasion gave a briefing to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Minister on his scheduled study tour of Germany. It may be mentioned here that the Education Minister, Sardar Hussain Babak and Director ESRU Riaz Bahar Akhwanzada will proceed to Germany on study tour on 3 July. During their visit, they will attend different educational and vocational training programmes. Provincial Coordinator Education Sector Development, GIZ Naeem Firdous Khan and Director ESRU, Riaz Bahar Akhwanzada were also present on this occasion.
