 BUXTON SUCCEEDS NUGENT AS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF PENTAIR
 ST. PAUL, Minn., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentair, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: PNTA), the St. Paul-based manufacturer of industrial products and paper, today announced Winslow H. Buxton, 53, formerly president and chief operating officer, has succeeded D. Eugene Nugent as chief executive officer. Nugent, who will retire from active management in December 1992, retains the title of chairman.
 Buxton was elected president and chief operating officer in July 1990. He served as vice president of Pentair's Paper Group from January 1989 and was president of Pentair's Niagara of Wisconsin paper business from 1987 to 1989. Buxton's 30 years of experience includes operations, engineering, marketing and other senior management positions at Willamette Industries, Boise Cascade and Publisher's Paper. He is a 1961 graduate of the University of Washington and holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
 Pentair, Inc. is a St. Paul-based company comprised of 10 businesses which manufacture woodworking equipment, electric power tools, sporting ammunition, electrical enclosures, automotive service equipment, industrial lubrication systems, material dispensing equipment, pumps and paper. Pentair common stock is quoted on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol PNTA.
