BUSINESS groups in Yorkshire are leading the launch of a Northern Powerhouse trade mission to India.
The Yorkshire Asian Business Association and the Federation of Asian Businesses have linked up to promote the November trip, which is open to any local business seeking to make its presence felt in emerging markets such as India.
The trade mission will focus on the North's key industries such as manufacturing, digital and health innovation.
There will also be opportunities for Knowledge Transfer Partnerships with education and industrial Institutes and a chance to meet high-level Indian officials such as government ministers, chamber of commerce chiefs and senior policy makers.
Amarjit Singh, who chairs the Yorkshire Asian Business Association, said: "The Northern Powerhouse has a lot to offer countries such as India, whilst India's fast-growing economy present exciting opportunities for Yorkshire businesses to grow beyond our borders.
"I would urge any business that is looking to expand and is curious about new opportunities in India to take advantage of this opportunity and sign up to get involved today."
Sharon Jandu, administrator to the Federation of Asian Businesses, said: "Asians and British Asians account for around 7% of the UK population, but we make a huge contribution to the UK's economy.
"This trade mission is an opportunity for local businesses to directly benefit from the links within the British Asian community to India."
