Worcester investment firm Bartholomew & Company Inc. has promoted Joshua A. Paul and Charles E. Patterson to senior vice presidents.

Mr. Paul, of Groton, joined Bartholomew & Company in 1995 and was previously with Bear Stearns Companies Inc. and Cape Cod Bank & Trust Company. He is a graduate of the Boston College's Carroll School of Management and studied at the London School of Economics.

Mr. Patterson, of Rutland, joined Bartholomew & Company in 2002 and was previously employed as treasurer for the Tantasqua Regional School District and the town of Shrewsbury. He is a graduate of Nichols College.

MADonahue Industries Inc. of Shrewsbury has appointed Curtis James Falzoi as assistant to the president.

Mr. Falzoi, of Shrewsbury, is a graduate of Boston University, and previously worked in sales in the solar energy industry in Los Angeles.

Sovereign Bank has announced the appointment of David Varno as mortgage development officer for the towns of Fitchburg, Townsend and Gardner.

Before joining Sovereign, Mr. Varno, of Fitchburg, was with Eagle Nationwide Mortgage Co. Inc., a subsidiary of Eagle National Bank.

Emilio Mastrodomenico, 81, of Lancaster received the National Disaster Medical System's Thomas J. Shepardson Leadership Award during the 2011 Integrated Training Summit recently held in Grapevine, Texas.

Mr. Mastrodomenico is the pharmacist for the Massachusetts-2 Disaster Medical Assistance Team based in Worcester. Mr. Mastrodomenico has deployed for every MA-2 DMAT engagement in the past 23 years including the 2010 Haiti deployment and participates in almost all field trainings.

Edward D. Fitzgerald has joined The Protector Group Insurance Agency Inc. as an account executive in the Commercial Lines Division. Mr. Fitzgerald, of Winchester, previously was an account executive for TD Insurance, and has a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master's degree in insurance management from Boston University.

The College of the Holy Cross has named Matthew T. Kennis assistant director of the office of government and community relations.

Previously, Mr. Kennis worked as a legislative specialist with the Massachusetts Teachers Association. Mr. Kennis has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.

James DeSanti, chief executive officer of Pharma Vigilant, has been awarded the 2011 Innovation in Clinical Research Award from the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

Mr. DeSanti, of Westboro, was recognized recently at the ACRP 2011 Global Conference in Seattle. He was honored for his work on the commercialization and launch of PharmaVigilant's integrated software suite for clinical development.

Mark E. LaMountain of Worcester has been named assistant vice president, mortgage originator at Clinton Savings Bank. The position involves helping homebuyers and owners find mortgages and home equity products.

Mr. LaMountain, who has a degree in business management from Bryant College, has 25 years experience in the financial industry, and most recently worked as a loan officer at North Brookfield Savings Bank. He has also worked at United Bank, Commonwealth National Bank, Banknorth Mortgage Company, and Guaranty Bank. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bankers Association and sits on the Real Estate Finance Committee.
