BUSINESS CENTER GRAND OPENING KICKS-OFF 'CUSTOMER SERVICE MONTH' IN ROYAL OAK AREA

BIRMINGHAM, Mich., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- How can businesses -- from the entrepreneur to the mid-sized company -- succeed in today's tough environment? It might come down to how they mail a letter.
"We realize that the mailing needs of our business customers are expanding, and in order for us to enhance our business partnership, we need to provide relevant advice and assistance," said Royal Oak District Business Center Manager Eileen McKinnon. "Therefore, our Business Center has been designed to address a wide variety of mail topics in a format that our customers will understand and be able to implement. We are looking forward to seeing many of our business customers at our Business Center Grand Opening on Friday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Business Center is located at the Royal Oak District office at 320 Martin Street, Birmingham, Mich., 48009."
OTHER CHANGES MADE TO ENHANCE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION INCLUDE:
--EXPANDED HOURS at many Post Offices. Each office surveyed their community to determine what hours best suit customer needs. The Port Huron Office is now open on Sundays, and the Southfield Office will remain open until 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
--Recently, the Mt. Clemens Post Office re-opened the only DRIVE- THRU SERVICE in the area.
--LOBBY DIRECTORS in many offices will greet customers at the door to ensure shorter lines and a more pleasant mailing experience.
--Postmasters are establishing CUSTOMER ADVISORY COUNCILS in their areas to provide a forum for customer communication.
--The SENIOR CITIZENS MOBILE UNIT is on the road again providing service to customers who may not be able to make it to their local post office.
--STAMPS BY FAX is now available in some cities.
--MAIL DEPOSIT BOXES more conveniently located in the area.
--During the month of June a MAIL EARLY campaign is also being launched. Many customers do not realize that mailing earlier in the day allows the Postal Service to begin processing sooner for faster delivery.
