People

Richard Frye has been hired to direct merchant services sales and operations for the local region of U.S. Bank. He will be located at the downtown Eugene office. Frye previously worked at Wells Fargo and LibertyBank locally.

Amanda Johnson has been hired as the program coordinator at Ophelia's Place in Eugene, an organization that promotes empowerment and self-esteem for girls. Johnson recently earned her master's degree in social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Kudos

Dr. Gerald Patterson has received the Presidential Citation from the American Psychology Association for his contributions to the field of psychology and his work as a mentor and collaborator. Patterson cofounded and is a scientist emeritus at the Oregon Social Learning Center in Eugene where he has led research projects for 30 years.

Randall Stender, FVP with Merrill Lynch in Eugene, was named one of the top 1,000 financial advisors in the country by Barron's Magazine. Stender was one of 10 advisors chosen in Oregon.

The Eugene Area Bed and Breakfast Association has elected the following officers for 2009-10: president, Donna Cribbs, River Walk Inn; vice president, Anne-Marie Lize, C'est La Vie Inn; secretary, Robin Winfree-Andrew, Fox Hollow Valley B&B; and treasurer, Suzanne Huebner-Sannes, 35712 Ross Lane, Cottage Grove.
