 BUSH INDUSTRIES EXPECTS FOURTH QUARTER/YEAR END GAINS; 1991 EARNINGS RISE ABOUT 41 PERCENT ON 15 PERCENT SALES INCREASE
 JAMESTOWN, N.Y., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Bush Industries, Inc. (AMEX: BSH), a leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble (RTA) and casegoods furniture, today announced preliminary results for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 28, 1991.
 Fourth quarter net income climbed about 65 percent to approximately $1,000,000 or 23 cents per share from $636,000 or 14 cents per share for the same period of the prior year. Sales for the final three months of 1991 rose about 10 percent to approximately $36,800,000 from $33,467,000 for the like period in 1990.
 Net income for the year grew nearly 41 percent to about $2,400,000 or 53 cents per share from $1,708,000 or 38 cents per share for the year earlier. Sales for 1991 rose approximately 15 percent, reaching about $126,400,000 from $110,336,000 for 1990.
 "The gains in 1991 reflect the benefits of our prior investments in people, technology, product development and merchandising programs. We have achieved many of our goals relative to significantly improving our manufacturing throughout and efficiencies," Paul Bush, chairman and chief executive officer, said.
