BURT REYNOLDS TO PROMOTE FLORIDA CITRUS IN SERIES OF TV COMMERCIALS
LAKELAND, Fla., July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida Citrus Commission today announced that world-famous stage and screen star Burt Reynolds will appear in a series of television commercials promoting 100 percent pure Florida orange juice.
A Florida native, Reynolds said he is excited about promoting a product he really believes in. "Growing up in Florida, naturally I was raised on Florida orange juice."
Florida Citrus Commission Chairman Hugh English said Reynolds is a "natural" for the job. "Burt appeals to people. We think he will be most helpful in delivering our message about the taste, and nutritional and energy benefits of Florida orange juice. We are very pleased to have him working with us," he said.
The Florida Department of Citrus and Saatchi & Saatchi/NY will produce the spots in Florida in September; the ads will begin running on network television in the fall.
Reynolds recently finished production in Tampa on his latest film, "Cop and a Half." He is now back starring in and co-producing the hit television comedy, "Evening Shade," which earned him last year's Emmy, Golden Globe and People's Choice awards. When not filming, Reynolds appears in his narrative, autobiographical production, "An Evening with Burt Reynolds," which has toured across the country to packed houses.
A former football star at Florida State University, Reynolds now lives in Jupiter, Fla., with his wife, Loni Anderson, and their young son, Quinton.
The Florida Citrus Commission is a group of 12 citrus growers, processors and shippers appointed by the governor of Florida to oversee the state's citrus industry. The Commission also is the governing board of the Florida Department of Citrus, which promotes and markets Florida citrus worldwide. Florida is the nation's largest producer of citrus.
