BURLINGTON ENVIRONMENTAL WINS ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AWARDS
SEATTLE, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Burlington Environmental today announced it has been selected for Environmental Compliance Awards for its Tacoma and Pier 91 treatment facilities.
The awards were presented by Environmental Information Ltd. in its first annual Environmental Compliance Awards competition. The awards were given to commercial treatment, storage and disposal facilities (TSDFs) that had no hazardous waste violations during calendar year 1991. The two Burlington Environmental facilities were among 12 other facilities in the nation to be honored.
To qualify for the award, operators were required to document that the facility had no hazardous waste violations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) during 1991. This documentation included a signature from a state or federal inspector attesting to the perfect compliance record. Environmental Information Ltd. verified the information independently.
The awards were given to 12 facilities from over 400 commercial treatment, storage or disposal facilities in the nation eligible for consideration. "It is very difficult to have a perfect compliance record in this heavily regulated industry," noted Cary Perket, president of Environmental Information Ltd. "The E.I. Environmental Compliance Award was created to recognize those commercial facilities that have achieved this level of outstanding environmental compliance." Environmental Information Ltd. is a Minnesota-based research and publishing firm focusing on the business, regulation and technology of the industrial and hazardous waste industry.
The awards announcements were welcomed by Burlington Environmental president, John M. Craig. "Compliance with all regulations is among our top corporate goals. We are exceptionally pleased to know that our performance has been recognized," he said.
Burlington Environmental is an environmental services firm offering hazardous waste management, environmental engineering and exploration and remediation services to commercial, industrial and governmental customers throughout the United States.
