BURLINGTON AIR EXPRESS ADDS TRACO FREIGHT AS SOUTH AFRICA AGENT

TRACO to Handle Air, Ocean Forwarding; Burlington Expanding
Service Capabilities, Adds New Agents in Seven African Countries
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Burlington Air Express has partnered with TRACO Freight (Pty) Ltd. to handle all air and ocean shipments between South Africa and the worldwide Burlington organization.
"TRACO offers Burlington customers a full range of integrated door- to-door air and ocean freight forwarding services from centralized control in Johannesburg," according to Ray Wilson, chief operating officer for Burlington's Atlantic Region.
"We are proud to become a member of the Burlington worldwide network of agents," said Angus MacNair, executive director of TRACO. "TRACO will help Burlington grow its global logistics capabilities by providing superior services to customers shipping to and from South Africa."
TRACO has been a leading freight forwarder in South Africa for over 10 years, employing personnel trained in all aspects of international forwarding. TRACO uses the Compu-Clearing system, the most widely used fully computerized customs clearing system. TRACO is both a FIATA and IATA member, according to MacNair.
As a member of the Burlington Network, TRACO is on-line with the company's Argus+(R), satellite-linked global communications and information system. Through Argus+(R), customers are provided instant shipment status and customized management information reports.
Since Burlington enhanced its global logistics by re-entering the ocean forwarding business last January with the introduction of Burlington Ocean Services(SM), one of the advantages to developing a partnership with TRACO was its ability to provide quality marine services.
"We felt in necessary to offer our own ocean product in order to provide our customers with a fully controlled and seamless logistics service. Having both air and ocean forwarding capabilities from one agent partner like TRACO improves the quality our customers receive," said Wilson.
In addition to South Africa, Burlington is expanding capabilities in other African countries with the addition of agent affiliates in Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Burlington Air Express Inc. is a $1 billion worldwide cargo express and global logistics company headquartered in Irvine, specializing in transportation services to business-to-business shippers.
Burlington is a subsidiary of The Pittston Co. (NYSE: PZS).
