BURGLAR STOLE FROM WOMAN, 87.

Byline: GARETH LIGHTFOOT gareth.lightfoot@eveninggazette.co.uk

A CALLOUS burglar who tricked his way into an 87-year-old woman's home posing as the gasman and stole her precious belongings is behind bars today. Lee Pattison, 37, was more comfortable in jail than out, and he seemed "hell bent" on returning to prison, said a Teesside Crown Court judge.

The institutionalised criminal made himself homeless by stripping his flat of copper and stole from a bookies where he assaulted a member of staff before he invaded the pensioner's Stockton home.

Now he has been jailed for five years and 10 months. | Full story on Page 4
