 BURGER KING NAMES GEDDES PRESIDENT, USA RETAIL DIVISION
 MIAMI, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Burger King Corporation announced today that David I. Geddes has been names president of the corporation's USA Retail Division. Geddes was formerly managing director, Worldwide Business Development for Burger King.
 "We are very pleased to have David assume responsibility for the USA Retail Division," said James B. Adamson, chief operating officer, Worldwide. "David has the operations, development and business background that makes him well suited for leading our company restaurants. Most recently, he did an outstanding job in introducing the Burger King brand to previously untapped markets overseas," he added.
 In his new capacity, Geddes will direct the corporation's Retail Division which is responsible for operating more than 900 company-owned restaurants throughout the United States. He replaces James B. Adamson, who was promoted Oct. 1, to chief operating officer, Worldwide for Burger King.
 Geddes joined Burger King in 1989 as executive vice president, Operations, with responsibility for all operations and development activities in various U.S. West Coast markets. His position was later expanded to include responsibility for overseeing more than half of the corporation's 5,500 franchised and company-owned restaurants nationwide.
 Prior to joining Burger King, Geddes served as Group Public Affairs Executive Corporate Centre for Grand Metropolitan PLC. He joined Grand Metropolitan in 1983 where he held a number of marketing and operations management positions in the retailing sector.
 Geddes began his career with Proctor & Gamble, and later held various marketing and sales management positions with the Gillette Company in Boston, Mass.
 Geddes will report directly to Adamson and work from the corporation's world headquarters in Miami.
 A graduate of the University of Reading, Berkshire, England, Geddes received his bachelor of arts degree in economics and psychology.
