BUILDERS WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATION HIRES CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

 CONWAY, Ariz., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Builders Warehouse Association, Inc. (NASDAQ: BWAI), today announced that Mr. David Spivey had been hired as the company's chief financial officer as of Monday, Oct. 4.
 Mr. Spivey had been working since 1978 for a company which owned a group of broadcasting companies where he most recently held the position of controller/chief financial officer. Prior to joining this company, he was a partner of a full-service, public accounting firm which he co-founded in 1972. Mr. Spivey began his career as an accountant with KPMG Peat Marwick in 1968 after earning a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas and becoming a certified public accountant.
 Builders Warehouse Association, Inc., is a rapidly growing building materials distributor with a chain of eight stores primarily catering to professional builders and contractors. Its sales have increased from approximately $3.4 million in 1990 to $17.1 million during its most recent fiscal year. Each store provides a complete line of products at very competitive prices and offers several unique services which help its customers save time and money. Builders Warehouse stores are only found in markets with populations of less than 40,000 in order to avoid competition from the major retailers such as Lowe's and Home Depot.
