BUILDERS SQUARE REPORTS SEVEN OF EIGHT MIAMI STORES FULLY OPERATIONAL;
 NEW DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS AID IN RESTOCKING
 MIAMI, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Builders Square, Inc., which operates eight home improvement warehouse stores in the Miami area, today reported that its retail outlets are fully operational, with the exception of its Kendall store, which is expected to open early next week. Life support and staple items are being restocked in order to meet the critical needs of the community.
 Customers in the Kendall area are encouraged to access the Builders Square stores located in either N. Miami Beach at N.E. 167th at N.E. 9th Ave. (947-3414) or in Hialeah at the Palm Springs Mile shopping center (558-1724).
 According to Bruce Hokanson, regional manager of operations for south Florida, the company is creating alternative distribution systems in order to expedite restocking of goods. At the same time, he stressed that the company is beefing up special services, such as installed sales, in preparation for the rebuilding effort. "Obviously, we are running short of some items as demand for certain staples has increased...however, I am pleased to report that we are getting product back onto the shelves as quickly as possible in order to facilitate the hurricane relief effort."
 Builders Square also announced this morning that it has contributed $10,000 in cash to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through the San Antonio Area Chapter of the Red Cross. According to Greg Gallaspy, community relations manager for Builders Square who is on site in Miami overseeing the company's community outreach and public service efforts, "Our hearts go out to the thousands of Americans who have been left homeless and hurt by this terrible tragedy, and we are pleased and gratified to support the courageous efforts of the American Red Cross, whose quick response to this disaster is exemplary."
 Builders Square operates 161 stores worldwide. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kmart Corp. (NYSE: KM).
