BUDGET RENT A CAR GIVES NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS 350 FREE RENTAL CAR DAYS TO CELEBRATE 35TH BIRTHDAY

LISLE, Ill., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Celebrating 35 years of value leadership in the car rental industry, Budget Rent a Car today announced it is returning some of that value to the community this fall with a sweepstakes to give away 350 car rental days to charities nationwide.
The winning 350 non-profit organizations may choose one full day this fall or winter to receive a free intermediate-sized rental car, which will be reserved specifically for them. The recipients will be selected through Budget's "Value to the Community" Free Car Sweepstakes, which will run from Sept. 14-21, 1993, with the cars available anytime from Nov. 1-Jan. 31, 1994.
"Budget is celebrating 35 years of quality and service in the car rental business, and we want to recognize the local organizations that give so much value to their communities," said William N. Plamondon, president and CEO of Budget. "Providing 350 non-profit organizations with a free car for a day is our way of saying thank you to the people and organizations committed to bringing value and service to our society."
Non-profit organizations can enter the "Value to the Community" Free Car Sweepstakes by filling out an entry form that will appear in a USA TODAY advertisement on Sept. 14, 1993. They may also enter by sending their organization's name, a contact person's name, address, daytime telephone number, proof of 501(C)3 status, a brief description of the organization's mission, and a specific date for free rental to "Value to the Community" Free Car Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 1342, Young America, Minn. 55594-1342.
Entries most be post-marked by Sept. 21, 1993, and winners will be selected in a random drawing supervised by Young America Corporation. The free day's rental does not include surcharges, taxes, refueling, or optional coverages. In addition, the driver must be 25 years or older, may be subject to a state drivers license check for eligibility and must possess a credit card for payment of miscellaneous charges. Finally, cars must be returned to the renting location.
The "Value to the Community" program is one major component of a grand 35th birthday promotion that offers customers unprecedented values such as $35 luxury rentals, 35 cent upgrades, 35 cent rental days, and $35 off weekly car rentals. In addition, for the first time in the history of the car rental industry, Budget will make its entire rental fleet available for free to all renters for one full day this year, with the exact date to be announced in early November. The entire 35th birthday promotion is effective Sept. 6 through Dec. 15, 1993.
Budget Rent a Car is the world's third largest car and truck rental system, with more than 3,200 locations, including those in nearly 825 airports, in over 110 countries and territories. Budget has nearly 1,050 locations in the United States, including over 300 U.S. airport locations.
