 BUDD SIGNS UP CHINESE AUTO PARTS SUPPLIER
 TROY, Mich., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Budd Company said today it


had completed an agreement with Beijing FRP Auto Parts Corporation, Beijing, China, for technical assistance in producing Sheet Molded Composite (SMC) material and components. SMC is basically fiber glass- reinforced polyester resin with certain other ingredients.
 Budd will train the Chinese at Budd facilities and in China.
 The agreement, which has the approval of the U.S. Department of Commerce and China's Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations & Trade, concerns specifically the SMC components for Beijing Jeep Corporation, and is expected to run for approximately two years. The amount of the contract was not disclosed.
 Budd's Plastic Division has its research and development and design facilities in Troy, with production plants located in Carey, North Baltimore, and Van Wert, Ohio, and in Kendallville, Ind.
 In the field of SMC, Budd also has license agreements for providing technical assistance to companies in Australia, Mexico, Japan and Italy.
 The Budd Company is a leading supplier to the automotive industry.
