BUDD ELECTS URSO VICE PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT OF PLASTICS DIVISION

 TROY, Mich., Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Richard J. Urso, 49, has been elected corporate vice president of The Budd Company and president of its Plastics Division, it was announced today. Urso was president and general manager of Budd Canada Inc., Kitchener, Ontario.
 Urso is a graduate of the University of Detroit and holds an MBA from Michigan State University. He is also a graduate of the Tuck Executive Program at the Amos Tuck Business School at Dartmouth College.
 Urso joined Budd in 1965 at the company's Philadelphia plant. He held a variety of managerial positions at the company's Stamping & Frame Division facilities at Philadelphia, Detroit, Kitchener and Rochester, N.Y. He was appointed Kitchener Plant Manager in 1989 and a director, president and general manager of Budd Canada Inc. in May 1991.
 He succeeds Jerry Purcell, who will become a consultant to the company and head of Connelly Skis, Inc., a Budd unit producing high- performance water skis and related accessories.
 Urso will be headquartered at the division offices in Madison Heights, Mich.
 The Budd Plastics Division is a leading supplier of fiberglass- reinforced polyester compounds and molded products for the automobile, truck, engine and water ski industries.
 Research and development facilities are located in Troy, with production plants in Carey, North Baltimore and Van Wert, Ohio, and Kendallville, Ind. Connelly Skis, Inc. operates out of Lynwood, Wash.
 The Budd Company is recognized internationally as a leading supplier to the automotive industry. Headquartered in Troy, Budd produces automobile and truck body components of sheet metal and plastics, wheel and brake products, castings, prototype stampings, chassis frame components, automotive heating accessories and cold-weather starting aids. The company also makes perforated materials, plastic conveyor components, engineered plastics and water skis.
