BUCKEYE COMMUNICATIONS AND RIPLEY ENTERTAINMENT TO COLLABORATE IN THE LICENSING AND MARKETING OF 'RIPLEY'S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!' PRODUCTS

 NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Buckeye Communications, Inc. (OTC: BKCI) announced today that the company has entered into a licensing agreement with Ripley Entertainment, Inc. to develop a "Ripley's Believe It or Not! Collector Society for the merchandising of Ripley's Believe It or Not! artifact replicas and collectibles. The Ripley's agreement will enable Buckeye to expand the scope of its direct response merchandising activities through the marketing of these Ripley's artifact replicas, coinciding with the 100th birthday of Robert Ripley (December 25, 1993) and the 75th anniversary of the Robert Ripley Cartoon.
 Under the Ripley's agreement, Buckeye has the right to market, on an exclusive basis, up to 25 different artifact replicas per year on a worldwide basis through the following distribution channels: infomercials; two-minute short form direct response pieces; television home shopping; catalogues; print advertising; direct mail; credit card syndication; and retail outlets. Buckeye, will also provide the necessary resources to collect and create a customer mailing list to be derived from visitors to Ripley's Believe It or Not! museums. There currently exists 21 Ripley's museums located worldwide. Initially, Buckeye will collect names at four-five of the larger Ripley's-owned museums in the United States. Ripley will receive royalty payments from the sale of Ripley's Believe It or Not! products.
 The Ripley's agreement is for an initial five-year period ending October 16, 1998, subject to Buckeye's right to extend this initial term for an additional five-year period if Buckeye has paid to Ripley's royalties equal to or exceeding the required minimum during the initial term of the Ripley's agreement.
 Buckeye has agreed to fund all development and marketing costs including product development cost, media cost, test marketing cost, talent and consulting costs, fulfillment costs, fees and commissions and any other costs directly related to the selected "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" products.
 Buckeye, established in 1988, is a development stage company which seeks, investment and business opportunities in the leisure and entertainment industries including investments in such areas as (i) merchandising, licensing and intellectual assets, including the marketing and distribution of various consumer products through direct response and other traditional retail methods on a worldwide basis, (ii) themed tourist attractions, and (iii) entertainment. Buckeye common stock is quoted on the over-the-counter non-NASDAQ Bulletin Board under the symbol BKCI.
