BUBBA'S FURY OVER A NOOSE IN HIS GARAGE.
Byline: JACK STAPLEHURST
BY JACK STAPLEHURST FURIOUS NASCAR officials insist anyone connected with leaving a noose in Bubba Wallace's garage will be "eliminated" from the sport.
The shameful act of racism happened at the Talladega circuit in the southern state of Alabama on Sunday.
Wallace is the only full time African-American driver in the racing series and has thrown his weight behind the Black Lives Matter movement following the killing of George Floyd by police.
But the noose being found in his garage stall is a huge concern and Wallace spoke his mind following the abhorrent incident.
The 26-year-old, born in Alabama, posted on social media: "Today's despicable act of racism and hatred leaves me incredibly saddened and serves as a painful reminder of how much farther we have to go as a society and how persistent we must be in the fight against racism."
He added: "As my mother told me, 'They are just trying to scare you'. This will not break me, I will not give in nor will I back down. I will continue to proudly stand for what I believe in."
British F1 driver Lewis Hamilton (inset) replied with the message: "It's disgusting this is happening, stay safe and alert out there bro. Supporting from afar, proud of you."
NASCAR said in a statement: "We have launched an immediate investigation and will do everything we can to identify those responsible and eliminate them from the sport."
