BTi AND UCSF AGREE TO CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

 SAN DIEGO, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Biomagnetic Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: BTIX) (BTi) today announced that it had reached an agreement in principle with the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF) on a clinical and research program for its Magnes(R) Biomagnetometer System. Under the agreement, BTi expects to install a system at UCSF in the next few months, pending site preparation.
 James V. Schumacher, president and chief executive officer of BTi, said that UCSF's widely known research capabilities and extensive volume of applicable clinical cases will provide an excellent collaborative partner in developing and expanding clinical biomagnetism applications. He also stated that the UCSF site will provide a critical addition to the work underway in its current development sites at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, Calif., VA Medical Center/University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and other key collaborators in Europe and Japan.
 Ronald Arenson, M.D., chairman of the Department of Radiology at UCSF, said that the Magnes system will provide a powerful new capability to explore the functions of the brain and heart that are frequently difficult to assess with existing technologies. He also stated that investigators at UCSF are eager to develop and test new clinical applications for biomagnetism.
