BT tests Navini's WiMax technology.
Mobile broadband Internet technology from wireless telecomms company Navini Networks is being tested by BT Group, a telecomms provider in the UK.
According to Navini, its mobile WiMax technology is being used in rural and urban settings in the UK in pilot tests by BT. The trial of the long-distance technology is expected to continue into the first quarter next year.
WiMax technology is expected to provide high-speed wireless Internet for entire cities. The BT pilot tests follow Intel's decision earlier this year to collaborate with Nokia to make WiMax a new mobile broadband Internet access standard, reports Reuters.
