BT set for broadband advertising campaign.

UK telecomms company BT Plc has declared that it is to initiate a new marketing campaign in a bid to encourage UK consumers to sign up for its broadband Internet services.

The company is expecting to spend approximately GBP1m a day between 22 September 2002 and 2 October 2002 on a number of advertising strategies pointing out the benefits of broadband. Following on from that, the company will spend GBP23m on promoting BT Retail's BT Broadband product. The aim of the campaign is to ensure that there are 1m broadband users by the summer of 2003, 0.5m of which are connected using the BT Broadband package.

In related news, BT has signed an agreement with Carphone Warehouse that will see the company selling BT Broadband in retail stores. The financial terms of the agreement were not announced.
