BROWNING-FERRIS INDUSTRIES ACQUIRES BAY CITIES SERVICES, IN SAN DIEGO

 HOUSTON, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc., (NYSE: BFI) today announced that a subsidiary has recently acquired the assets of Bay Cities Services, Inc. and the related operations of Industrial Waste Systems, Inc. This acquisition will be BFI's first entry into the San Diego market area, which is the 13th largest MSA in population.
 The combined revenues of these two companies were $9.3 million. Bay Cities Services, Inc. and Industrial Waste Systems, Inc. provide solid waste collection, transportation, recycling and disposal services. Also acquired was the future right to operate a 300 ton-per-day transfer station.
 Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc. is one of the largest publicly-held companies engaged in providing waste services. Subsidiaries and affiliates collect, transport, treat and dispose of commercial, residential and municipal solid waste and industrial wastes. BFI subsidiaries are also involved in recycling, resource recovery facilities and medical waste services.
