BROOKTROUT TECHNOLOGY TR112 FAX CARDS SEND, RECEIVE ONE
MILLION FAXES IN 25 DAYS WITHOUT ERROR
NEEDHAM, Mass., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Brooktrout Technology Inc. today announced the successful completion of a test in which one million faxes were simultaneously sent and received in 25 days without error on 12 Brooktrout TR112 twin channel fax cards.
The test was conducted from March 5 at 5:34 p.m. to March 30 at 4:48 a.m. at Brooktrout's headquarters in Needham. Running on a single 386-based platform, the 12 fax cards sent and received faxes simultaneously and non-stop on 24 channels in 587 hours. The fax being sent was the standard CCITT Slerxe document.
"This is the highest fax transaction throughput ever achieved on a single 386 PC platform," said Brooktrout President Eric Giler. "Many systems integrators contend that you can't run this many channels reliably with this type of set-up. This test with the TR112, the highest-density integrated fax and voice board on the market, conclusively proves our product's strength and reliability."
Brooktrout's TR112 enables users to send and receive facsimiles on two channels simultaneously via the public telephone network. The TR112 allows much greater platform density because of its twin-channel design and has various telephone interface options, including Loop, Direct Inward Dialing (DID) and T1. The board is aimed at developers of multi-channel fax-mail systems and applications, including fax-mail servers for local area networks, E-Mail to fax servers, telephone company-operated store-and-forward services and integrated fax and voice response systems.
Brooktrout is a market and technical leader in voice and facsimile messaging systems and holds a landmark patent in integrated voice and fax messaging. The company was the first to introduce multi-channel fax cards, combine voice and facsimile on a single card, use Direct Inward Dial (DID) for autorouting of facsimile messaging, and provide facsimile support for UNIX platforms.
