BROOKTROUT PROMOTES MARKETING VICE PRESIDENT

 NEEDHAM, Mass., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Brooktrout Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRKT) announced the promotion of R. Andrew O'Brien to the position of vice president of marketing and business development. In this position, O'Brien will have responsibility for marketing and business development worldwide, as well as responsibility for sales in the Pacific Rim and Latin America.

"Andy's promotion will enable us to focus clearly on delivering the right products and marketing programs to serve our customers worldwide, maintain our market leadership and sustain our growth."
 O'Brien joined Brooktrout in January, 1993, as director of marketing and business development, with responsibility for marketing communications, product management and corporate development. Prior to joining Brooktrout, he was with McKinsey & Company, Inc., in Boston. He received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BA from Yale University.
 Brooktrout is a worldwide market and technical leader in facsimile and voice messaging. The company supplies fax and voice processing boards to developers of enhanced fax and voice systems, and messaging systems to OEM customers. The company was the first to introduce multi- channel fax boards and to combine voice and facsimile processing on a single board.
