BROOKTROUT ANNOUNCES RECORD SALES AND PROFITS FOR 1991
NEEDHAM, Mass., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Brooktrout Technology Inc. today announced record sales and profits for 1991 as the company expanded distribution channels worldwide for its multiple channel fax/voice card.
Brooktrout's sales for multiple channel fax/voice card, TR112 twin-channel facsimile card, Application Programmers Interface (API) software and voice messaging systems increased by a total of 50 percent in 1991 over 1990. In addition, the company's profits rose 1400 percent in 1991 over a reported loss a year earlier. The outstanding growth rate earned Brooktrout a place on the 1991 Inc. 500 list of America's fastest-growing private companies, where it ranks 254.
"We attribute our extraordinary growth to the broad-based acceptance of our computer-fax product and a tremendous year in our voice processing business," said Eric Giler, Brooktrout's president. Giler said sales are expected to grow by 56 percent in 1992 as Brooktrout products gain even broader market acceptance.
The TR series is a family of add-in PC boards which provide developers with the fundamental hardware and software "engine" technology from which sophisticated integrated facsimiles or fax/voice systems can be produced. The family of boards include the TR112 fax card and the TR200 voice card.
The appeal of these products is dramatically increased due to the availability of sophisticated software support in the form of application programming interfaces (API's) and drivers for multiple operating systems.
Brooktrout is a market and technical leader in voice and facsimile messaging systems and holds a landmark patent in integrated voice and fax messaging. The company was the first to introduce multi-channel fax cards, combine voice and facsimile on a single card, use Direct Inward Dial (DID) for autorouting of facsimile messaging, and provide facsimile support for UNIX platforms.
