BROOKLYN UNION SETS GAS SENDOUT RECORD

 NEW YORK, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Blizzard of '93 resulted in a record gas sendout by Brooklyn Union. In the 24-hour period beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 14, sendout reached 906,058 dekatherms, the highest this year and the second highest ever recorded.
 The average temperature during the storm, considered to be one of the most powerful of the century, was 20 degrees; wind speed averaged 14 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
 The company's daily sendout record of 941,773 dekatherms was set on Jan. 21, 1985.
 Brooklyn Union distributes gas to 1.1 million customers in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
