BROADWAY & SEYMOUR ACQUIRES NATIONAL FINANCIAL COMPUTER SYSTEMS
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- William W. Neal, president and chief executive officer, Broadway & Seymour, Inc., and Gary W. Pierotti, president, National Financial Computer Systems, Inc., (NFCS), today announced the acquisition of NFCS of Atlanta, Georgia, by Broadway & Seymour. NFCS is the developer of BANCStar(R), a leading branch automation system for the banking industry.
Regarding the acquisition, Neal commented, "Banks have been telling us that with the trend towards mergers and acquisitions that is so prevalent in the industry today, branch automation applications are critical to help facilitate the task of integrating branch networks. They want one source to supply the software product and take the risk out of implementation and support."
As a principle remarketer for NFCS for over five years, Broadway & Seymour has sold, integrated, and supported BANCStar in both large and super regional banks, as well as community banks. BANCStar is an application generator that comes complete with a "standard set" of transactions for handling teller, platform, new account, and all types of loan origination, while also providing product sales and statistical reporting features. The system runs under either IBM OS/2 with Presentation Manager (PM) or IBM DOS.
BANCStar is currently installed in over 500 banks with from one to 3,000 workstations, some of which include Pittsburgh National Corporation, First Tennessee, South Carolina National, Wachovia, First Fidelity Bancorporation, SunTrust, First Chicago, United Colorado, Bank IV, and Washington Mutual of Spokane, as well as numerous community banks. NFCS distributes its products through third party relationships, the most notable of which is IBM.
Broadway & Seymour is a provider of client-based information technology solutions to the financial services marketplace. It offers software products, software development and support, systems integration, and outsourcing. The company's software is currently installed in approximately 500 community banks and over 40 of the nation's top 200 banks are software product or consulting clients. In addition to the new facility in Atlanta, its offices and subsidiaries are located in Charlotte, North Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; Houston, Texas; and St. Paul/Minneapolis, Minnesota.
