BRITISH AIRWAYS OFFERS NEW YEAR GIVEAWAY, LAND OF THE FREE FOR FREE

NEW YORK, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- British Airways (NYSE: BAB) passengers who fly transatlantic full-fare round-trip to Britain and beyond in either Concorde, First or Club class between today (Jan. 5) and March 15, 1993, will earn the right to fly the land of the free - for free.
In its first major initiative of the New Year, open to current and new members of the British Airways' Executive Club Frequent Traveler Program USA, customers who travel during the valid period will earn a free round-trip coach class ticket on USAir or Alaska Airlines to any city in the continental USA which they serve.
The rewards must be redeemed between May 1, 1993, and Oct. 31, 1993. Members with multiple qualifying roundtrips will earn multiple awards.
In addition, British Airways is also offering a bonus of two free weekend nights in any Marriott Hotel, Resort or Suites; and a certificate for a three-day special weekend rate on a Hertz full-size rental car.
"We fly to London from 16 gateways in the U.S. regularly every week and this program is a way of recognizing and rewarding our most frequent flyers," said Dave Erich, vice president, marketing.
"It has been designed to re-emphasize our leadership position across the Atlantic and the superior value-added benefits of flying British Airways."
Passengers must be members of the Executive Club Frequent Traveler Program USA before travel begins and may call 800-955-2748 to enroll prior to departure. Members of British Airways' Privileged Traveler club's discounts will apply.
Qualifying tickets must be issued in the USA and travel must originate from a British Airways USA gateway.
Award certificates will be automatically mailed to Executive Club members in April. To redeem the USAir/Alaska Airlines award, members will call British Airways Executive Club reservations 800-452-1201 and make a booking. Upon verification of the certificate number, the ticket will be issued and mailed to the member. A minimum of 14 days advance notice is required before ticketing.
The award certificates on both USAir and Alaska Airlines are transferable, but tickets must be sent directly to the members' address of record. Once the tickets have been issued, no changes or upgrades are permitted.
The Marriott awards are non-transferable. To redeem the Marriott or Hertz awards, members will call both companies and present their certificates on check-in.
Further information is available from travel agents, local British Airways sales offices or by calling British Airways at its toll free number, 800-AIRWAYS.
