 BRITISH AEROSPACE TO RETAIN CORPORATE JET BUSINESS
 WASHINGTON, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Having reviewed a number of


proposals on the corporate jet business, British Aerospace plc has determined that the interests of the shareholders, customers and employees will best be served by retaining the business which continues to provide profits to the company from its position as the leading supplier of mid-sized corporate jets.
 Commenting on the decision, Dick Evans, chief executive of British Aerospace plc, said: "We are pleased that the uncertainty surrounding Corporate Jets' future has been removed, and we can now concentrate our efforts on further improving our leading position in the marketplace."
 British Aerospace Corporate Jets designs and manufactures the BAe 125-800 and its long-range version, the BAe 1000. More than 800 BAe 125 series aircraft have been delivered.
 British Aerospace, Inc., is the U.S. subsidiary of British Aerospace plc, responsible for the interests in North and South America of the United Kingdom's largest manufacturing exporter. The company's principal businesses include commercial transport aircraft, Land Rover North America Inc., business jets, military aircraft and other defense equipment and Reflectone simulator systems.

Outside the United States, the market for the 125 family has been very buoyant. Total worldwide sales so far for 1992 stand at 25 aircraft worth $287 million. the current order backlog amounts to $950 million made up of :
 -- $400 million -- orders for corporate configured 800s and
 1000s, and six aircraft for the Japanese Air
 Self Defense Force
 -- $550 million -- outstanding commitments for the JASDF for
 deliveries out to the year 2003/
