BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB PROMOTES WEG TO GROUP PRESIDENT

 NEW YORK, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) today announced that Kenneth E. Weg has been promoted to president, Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Group, effective immediately.
 He succeeds Wayne A. Davidson, who has announced his retirement, effective June 1. Mr. Davidson, who has been with Bristol-Myers Squibb for 35 years, will continue to serve as an executive vice president of the company and as a member of the board of directors until that date.
 Mr. Weg was previously president, Pharmaceutical Operations. He began his career with the company in 1969, as director, long range planning in the company's International Division and held progressively more responsible positions in international markets throughout the world. In 1987, Mr. Weg joined Squibb Corporation as president, Squibb International and, following the 1989 merger which formed Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, has held several key executive positions with the Pharmaceutical Group.
 In his new position, Mr. Weg will report to Charles A. Heimbold Jr., president, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company.
 Prior to joining the company, Mr. Weg held sales, marketing and planning positions with Merck, Sharp & Dohme. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and holds a master's in business administration from Columbia University. Mr. and Mrs. Weg reside in Princeton, N.J.
