BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB ANNOUNCES PROMOTION OF E. LYNN JOHNSON

 NEW YORK, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Bristol-Myers Squibb Company today announced the promotion of E. Lynn Johnson to the position of president, Mead Johnson Nutritional Group. The nutritional group is headquartered in Evansville, Ind. and employs 4500 worldwide. Its global businesses consist primarily of infant formula, specialty nutritional and pediatric products. Mr. Johnson will succeed Donald G. Harris, who will retire after 35 years with the company.
 Mr. Johnson joined Mead Johnson in 1967 as a scientist in the Quality Assurance Laboratory. Upon completion of a Master's Degree from the University of Evansville, in 1970, Mr. Johnson held a variety of increasingly more responsible positions throughout the human resources area while gaining an in-depth understanding of the technical, operations, sales and marketing functions within the Mead Johnson business.
 After 19 years with Mead Johnson, Mr. Johnson moved to New York in 1986 to become vice president, human resources for Bristol-Myers' International Group. At the time of the merger of Bristol-Myers' and Squibb in 1989, he was named senior vice president, human resources and administration for the company's pharmaceutical group. In 1991, Mr. Johnson was promoted to his most recent position as senior vice president, human resources for Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. He also serves on the company's policy committee.
 Mr. Johnson will assume his new duties immediately. He and his wife, Janet, will be relocating to the Evansville area in the very near future.
 Bristol-Myers Squibb is a diversified, research-based health care company whose principal businesses are pharmaceuticals, consumer products, nutritionals and medical devices.
