BRINKER INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBERS

 DALLAS, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- At yesterday's meeting of the Brinker International, Inc. (NYSE: EAT) board of directors, J. Ira Harris and Roger F. Thomson were elected as members of the board of directors.
 J. Ira Harris is a senior partner with Lazard Freres & Co., a prominent investment banking firm, and has held such position since joining the firm in January 1988. Harris serves as a director for various entities including, Manpower, Inc., Caremark International, Inc., Polk Brothers Charitable Foundation, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago Public Library Foundation, and the National Center for Learning Disabilities in New York City. He is also trustee of Northwestern University, chairman of the Government Assistance Project Advisory Committee for the Chicago Community Trust, a member of the Kellogg Graduate School Advisory Board, and a trustee of the Museum of Science and Industry.
 Roger F. Thomson joined the company as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary in April, 1993. For the past five years Thomson served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Burger King Corporation. Prior to 1988, Thomson spent ten years at S & A Restaurant Corp. where he was executive vice president, general counsel and secretary.
 Brinker International operates Chili's Grill & Bar, Romano's Macaroni Grill, Grady's American Grill, and Spageddies Italian Food restaurants. The publicly-traded company has 387 restaurants in 42 states, Canada and Mexico, with system-wide sales of $809 million for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1993 and projected to approach system- wide sales of $1 billion in fiscal 1994. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "EAT."
