BRINKER INTERNATIONAL, INC. REINSTATES NORMAN BRINKER AS CHAIRMAN AND CEO

DALLAS, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- At today's meeting of the Brinker International, Inc. (NYSE: EAT) board of directors, Norman Brinker was reinstated as chairman and chief executive officer following recovery from a serious polo accident suffered in January.
Ron McDougall, president and chief operating officer, who led the company to all-time record earnings during Brinker's recovery period, said, "It's great to have Norman back. We're all thankful for his incredible recovery from a very serious injury. The return of Norman and his years of experience further strengthens a very strong and successful management team."
Brinker expressed his appreciation for the job done by McDougall and others during his absence. "I've worked with Ron for 20 years," he said. "We've been a tremendously successful team in the past and it is clear that the company's future is brighter than ever."
In other action, the board elected former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, current president and CEO of The Staubach Company, as a member of the board of directors. "With his broad based experience and business acumen, Roger will make an excellent addition to the board," said McDougall. The board also ratified the acquisition of its joint venture partner in the Spageddies restaurant joint venture.
