BRING A CONDOM FOR THE NOOKIE FESTIVAL; Witnness warning.

Byline: PAUL MARTIN

WITNNESS festival organisers are bracing themselves for a nookie-fest among amorous fans.

Texas and the Stereophonics may be thrilling gig-goers on stage, but many of the 50,000 there will also be making sweet music in the campsite areas around the Punchestown race course venue.

Now organisers have advised revellers to bring plenty of condoms to help avoid disease and unwanted pregnancy.

A Fans Guide to the mammoth music festival on August 4 and 5 advises: "Bring condoms - if you are planning to participate in any "behind the bike shed" activity, be sensible and make sure you are well prepared."

A spokeswoman said yesterday they were advising fans to take precautions, adding: "Basically what we are saying is if you can't be good, be safe.

"There will be a lot of people staying in tents on site for the two days so it's important they bring condoms if they are going to get up to anything.

"The festival guide covers everything from preparing for all types of weather to packing condoms.

"Hopefully fans will take note and come and have two great days of music."

Last year the Witnness festival attracted more than 50,000 rock fans over two days and many stayed in tents, similar to the Glastonbury music spectacular in England.

But organisers are expecting the number of campers to double at next month's concert and, with nowhere to buy condoms on the site, they are taking no chances.

The spokeswoman added: "We want people to have a good time as long as they are safe. There will be no condom machines at the event so people will have to bring their own."

Fans won't have the chance to get too carried away, though, as security officers will be patrolling the venue throughout the night.

One show insider added: "It's just to make sure nothing gets too out of hand. Tents are fine, but any nookie in a public place will not be allowed."
