BRIGHTON SCHOOL DISTRICT PURCHASES NEW TECHNOLOGY LABS
OREM, Utah, March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicat Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: WCAT) today announced that Brighton School District (Brighton, Colo.) recently purchased new Wicat integrated learning systems (ILSs) for use in all of the district's elementary schools and one high school. The agreement was valued at more than $250,000.
The computer labs will cover a wide variety of needs in the school district. A major focus at the elementary level will be bilingual education. Three of the five elementary schools will be using Wicat's new Spanish Math I course to meet the needs of Hispanic students. Hispanics make up 28 percent of the district's student population. Other courseware in use will address mainstream, at-risk, G.E.D. and adult education needs.
According to Art Herrera, assistant principal for Brighton High School, "The school district conducted a very extensive evaluation of available ILS vendors. Five different vendors participated in the evaluation which consisted of a full scale test lab where classes were brought in to evaluate each ILS in a real world environment."
According to Herrera, "The ILS selection committee chose Wicat over the over vendors because it simply out performed the other systems being evaluated."
Wicat Systems is a world leader in technology-based education and provides products and services to significantly improve learning in schools and industry. Wicat stock is traded in the NASDAQ market under the symbol WCAT.
