BJ's is upgraded

NATICK - A JPMorgan analyst upgraded BJ's Wholesale Club Inc. yesterday, saying the warehouse club operator has made improvements in converting free-trial customers to paid-trial members, a move which should boost performance. Analyst Charles Grom boosted his rating on the company to "overweight" from "neutral." Twice a year, BJ's gives nonmembers 90 days of free memberships, and once shoppers are in the stores it offers them strong incentives to become full-fledged members, he said. BJ's operates a distribution center in Uxbridge. (Associated Press)
