Claypool film featured for Eugene Celebration

The Eugene Celebration Film Festival kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday at DIVA, 110 W. Broadway.

This year's lineup features such hits as "National Lampoon's Electric Apricot," written, directed and starring Les Claypool; "Squeegee Bandit," a hip, gritty documentary about a window washer named Starfish working the mean streets of Auckland, New Zealand; and "The Garage," a coming of age film that was picked up for distribution after screening at the 2007 Eugene International film Festival.

A bunch of directors will be around to meet and greet, including Sandor Lau of "Squeegee Bandit" and Carl Thibault of "The Garage."

Oregon filmmakers also will be featured. Director Andrew Michael Warnecke and several cast members will be attending the screening of "Blue Angel," a 13-minute movie on sexual abuse.

Other locally made films include "The Note," about a family losing their child to cancer, by Hank Sisk of Cottage Grove; and "Youth Visions," a series of short films by local high school students.
