Springfield meeting about child abuse canceled

The Springfield Public Schools meeting for parents about child abuse scheduled for today has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts.

Details of a new date and time for the meeting will be announced later.

Group holding its annual sale of tree seedlings

Volunteers with the Lane Small Woodland Association will hold their annual seedling sale Saturday at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot at the Lane County Extension office, 950 West 13th Ave.

A number of species will be available, including Douglas fir, noble fir, ponderosa pine, grand fir, western red cedar, coast redwood, red alder, giant sequoia, and white oak. Most of the seedlings will cost 50 cents each.

Wetlands celebration includes habitat project

Celebrate World Wetlands Day with Willamette Resources and Educational Network on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn how wetlands help our world. Participants will help recreate a wetland habitat inside the educational yurt.

The public is welcome. Suggested donation is $2 for members and $4 for nonmembers. Space is limited and registration is required.

Valentines for Singles event planned for Saturday

Valentines for Singles, presented by Conscious Connections, will be from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Tamarack Wellness Center. Cost is $10 per person, $15 if you bring a friend.

Museum hosts collection?of sharpening steels

The Junction City Historical Society will display a collection of butcher sharpening steels Saturday at the Mary E. Pitney House Museum in Junction City.

There will be several sets of salesman samples of various designs, some more than 300 years old.

Many makers, including Winchester and Keen Kutter, will be represented. This educational display previously has not been open to a public audience.

The museum is located at 289 West Fourth Ave. in Junction City. Admission is free, but donations to help fund museum upkeep are welcome.
