SPRINGFIELD - A brown bear was spotted twice during the weekend by a resident in a Thurston neighborhood, police said.

When officers arrived they were unable to locate the bear.
Stabbing suspect
sought in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD - A 28-year-old man is sought in connection with the stabbing of a teenage boy near downtown early Sunday morning, police said.
At about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Springfield police say, Randy Alen Morphew of Springfield entered an open front door of an apartment in the 1500 block of Main Street looking for a 15-year-old boy.
Morphew, an acquaintance of the teen's sister, allegedly entered the residence armed with a large knife, which police say he used to stab the boy once in the center of his back. Family members intervened and Morphew fled with the knife, police said. The stab wound was not life threatening, police said.
Investigators said the two disagreed over Morphew's relationship with the boy's sister.
As of Sunday night, Morphew remained at large. He is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
