Area residents invited to sound off on Brewer Park

Residents who live around Brewer Park in north Eugene are invited to share ideas on Thursday for improving the park.

The park, on Brewer Avenue west of Gilham Road, is classified as a neighborhood park, mainly meant to serve residents in the immediate area. Neighborhood parks do not have restrooms, off-street parking, organized athletic events, off-leash dog areas and other facilities that attract residents from other areas.

The playground equipment and other features in the 1.9-acre park are about 25 years old, said parks planner Robin Hostick.

About $75,000 is available from the 1998 parks and open space bond measure for park improvements, he said.

The meeting will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sheldon Community Center, 2445 Willakenzie Road.

For more information or to share ideas, contact Hostick at robin.a.hostick@ci.eugene.or.us, call 682-4915, or visit the Web site: www.ci.eugene .or.us/PARKS/brewer/index.htm.
