Bands organize concert to help sick teenager

Four Oregon metal bands and a special guest will team up Thursday at the WOW Hall to play a show to benefit a sick Eugene teenager.

Tara Smith is a 14-year-old who has an inoperable brain tumor.

"Treatment hasn't been going well," Northwest Royale's Blake Owens said in a news release. "There's hope though. If enough people get behind this and believe in it, I think that will make a difference.

`I still believe in miracles."

Royale, one of Eugene's busier bands, will headline the show. Also on the bill are Eugene's On the First Day ... They Were Kittens, Idle Class (from Sandy) and Paranos, which recently relocated to Eugene from Roseburg.

The show begins at 8:30 p.m. at the WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth Ave. Admission is $5.

Proceeds from the concert will help offset Smith's medical bills. Additional donations can be sent to Donation Account for Tara Smith, Selco Credit Union, Santa Clara branch, 221 Division Ave., Eugene, OR 97404.
