Hilton, Bijou planning
benefit Oscar parties
It's Oscar time, and local film fans looking for a party have a choice to make: black tie or Birkenstocks?
Oscar Sunday 2004 at the Hilton Eugene, 66 E. Sixth Ave., will include an elegant reception (from 4 p.m. on) with closed-circuit TV coverage of arriving guests, a five-course dinner, silent and oral auctions, and the live broadcast on two large-screen TVs.
Rick Dancer and Colleen Nelson from KEZI-TV and Dennis Nakata from Magic 94.5 will be the hosts.
Tickets for the black-tie event are $100 each. Proceeds will benefit the Pearl Buck Center's Families With Special Needs Programs and the Eugene Active 20-30 Foundation's children's charities.
For information or tickets, call the Pearl Buck Center at 345-8506.
The Bijou Art Cinemas party will begin at 5 p.m. with free hors d'oeuvres and a no-host wine and beer bar. Hosts "Brooklyn John" Tartaglione and Jessica of KPNW will auction off movie posters and other memorabilia, monthlong Bijou passes and other items donated by local businesses.
Tax-deductible admission is $10 in advance, $12 on Sunday. Reserved-seat tickets will be on sale after 5:30 p.m. today and Saturday in the Bijou lobby, 492 E. 13th Ave.
Proceeds will go to Greenhill Humane Society and Womenspace. For more information, call 686-3229.
