Cookware store dinner

features Oregon cheeses

A Southern Oregon creamery has taken the international cheese world by storm, and David Gremmels, co-owner of Rogue Creamery in Central Point, wants to share the news.

To this end, Cook's Pots & Tabletops, 2807 Oak St., has scheduled an Elegant Evening of Oregon Cuisine from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. next Friday, Dec. 12. Keith Ellis is the chef, and Gremmels is the featured guest.

Rogue cheeses have won nine medals and two trophies in recent months.

The 2003 World Cheese Awards, held Nov. 4-9 in London, gave Rogue River Blue - Rogue Creamery's smooth-textured, tangy, blue-veined cheese - three accolades. It won a gold medal as the best blue-vein cheese made outside the United Kingdom and a trophy as the best blue cheese in the competition, and it was judged the third-best cheese overall.

The menu for the event features an Oregon Blue Martini with Bombay Sapphire gin and fresh rosemary, a selection of Rogue Creamery cheeses, Oregonzola Pizza with Prosciutto, Oregon Crusted Beef Fillet, Rogue River Natural Rind Cheese Wrapped in Brandy-Soaked Grape Leaf, seasonal vegetables and a selection of Oregon wines.

The cost is $55 each. For a reservation, call 338-4339.
